Tá áthas orm go bhfuil mé i mo Éalaíontóir Cónaithe in GTeic Ghaoth Dobhair.
I’m delighted to share my latest news, that I am artist in residence in the new IT Hub in Gaoth Dobhair….GTeic.
The GTeic is set up to facilitate those who can work remotely and has the state of the art high speed internet and facilities.
This will give me a chance to share my music to schools, visitors and academics who are interested in the culture and music of this area.
As you know, I’m a huge advocator of the Irish Language, which is my first language and that will be at the forefront of my residency.
To date, I have given an illustrated lecture on my personal musical background and played to the French Ambassador on his recent visit to the Gteic.
I have also set up a monthly song/ singing session in the Caife of Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair which started last Sunday for young and old.
My friend from the lessons here, Elaine Mc Menamin Bradley brought her two little girls there and they sang beautifully.
Our next meeting will be May 1 st 2022 from 6 pm.
As you know May Day is a significant date in the Irish calendar with alot of superstitions and folklore about it…so we might have a discussion on those along with tunes and songs!
We might even play Banríon na Bealtaine/The Queen of May!!!
The other photograph here is my daughter and I playing at the 50th Anniverasry of Raidió na Gaeltachta last weekend in Connemara.
Bhí onóir orainn a bheith páirteach san cheiliúradh. We were honoured to partake in the celebrations.
